My name is Adam Cupp. I'm running for Lewis Palmer District 38 School Board (Director District 5). I moved to Colorado over 15 years years ago, and Monument almost 10 years ago. I grew up in small-town Iowa, and I've always loved how you can run into someone you know at the coffee shop or grocery store when you live in a small town. That's what I've come to love about the Tri-Lakes area. My involvement in Boy Scouts instilled in me a strong conviction to serve my community, earning my Eagle Scout Award. Through my Boy Scout journey, I learned the value of perseverance, leadership, and honor.
Since moving to Colorado after graduating from ISU, I've worked for a leading defense company as an engineer and team lead, gaining experience in effectively managing systems, projecting life-cycle costs for projects and infrastructure, developing systems and cyber solutions, and extensive roles in proposal development.
I'm a father of three active young children. People say to "enjoy this age" because it "goes so quickly." Although the days are long, I have to say, it's absolutely true - the years are going by in a blink. Our oldest is in kindergarten and our son just started Preschool in the district. My wife grew up as part of a large family in District 38 and serves as a full-time mom and part-time Home Care Nurse for special needs adults and children.
We enjoy having extended family close by with nieces and nephews attending D38 schools at the Elementary, Middle School, and High School levels.
Since moving to the Tri-Lakes area in 2010, I've had an interest in the School District; as my kids become school-aged my interest has grown to a desire to take action for the benefit of my kids and families in the district at large. As an engineer, I'm passionate about fixing and making systems that work.
Prior to my arrival in Monument, I served on the Aurora Water Board. I have been a member of the Aurora Chapter Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce) serving as Secretary to support Community Service, President of my National Management Association Chapter, and have volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
